CFAN Takes a Final Bow

After nine years of promoting the fine arts within the surrounding communities and the SCUC ISD, The Community Fine Arts Network will be ceasing all operational activities as of June 30, 2014.  One of the original goals of CFAN was to provide a boost to the school district in order to start a strings program.  In the fall of 2005, CFAN donated 21 violins, violas and cellos to the district.  As a result of this donation the district launched an after school strings program the following year.  Each year the program has grown dramatically and evolved from an after school program to a full-fledged offering within the fine arts department.  Today there are three full time orchestra teachers and well over 400 students in the orchestra program.

Every year since 2006, CFAN has also sponsored fine arts camps each summer in art, music and the theatre arts.  The CFAN Community Band also got its start about this time as well, with four concerts each year, including the annual Veterans Day Tribute.  In the spring of 2006, the SCUC ISD inaugurated the Fine Arts Festival,  a full day devoted to the fine arts programs of the district  which allowed students in all of the fine arts disciplines to showcase their talents.  CFAN also sponsored the first ever concert by the San Antonio Symphony in the area as well as the Air Force Band of the West.  Over the years, thousands of scholarship dollars were granted to SCUC ISD students who went on to major in one of the fine arts disciplines in college.

CFAN would like to thank you for your support over the years and we are confident that the seeds that were planted years ago will continue to grow into an even more well-rounded fine arts experience for our community.

Thank you,
CFAN
